Buying and licences

7 answers
Q.01How much does it cost?

One payment of $40 $30 Launch sale · 25% off, and no subscription. It includes a year of updates and works on up to 3 of your PCs.

The AI costs nothing extra from us: it runs free on your PC, or on your own account with an AI company, who bill you directly. Buy a key, or try it free first.

Q.02How does the free trial work?

Every PC gets 14 days free, with everything working. The trial starts the first time the app reaches its licence server, so connect to the internet once after installing.

In the last three days a small reminder shows on the screens. When the trial ends, the screens show a card where you can paste a key or buy one. The studio stays open, so your settings and backups are always within reach.

Q.03Can I use one key on more than one PC?

Yes: one key works on up to 3 of your PCs. On each one, open the studio (press T on any screen), go to Account, paste the key and choose Use this key.

On a fourth PC the key is refused, and the card lists the PCs already using it. Free one of them first: see moving to a new PC.

Q.04What does “a year of updates” mean?

Your key includes every new version released in the year after you buy it, and the studio’s Account tab shows the date. When the year is up, the app keeps working: the key doesn’t expire.

There are no automatic updates yet. To update, download the newest installer and run it: it installs over the old version and keeps your settings and data.

Q.05Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 14 days of buying. The details are in the refund terms. Write to us from the email address you bought with. Once a refund goes through, the key stops working on every PC.

Q.06I’ve lost my licence key.

Your key came by email when you bought it, with the subject “Your Holo Intelligence licence”. Search your inbox, and your spam folder, for that. Keys look like HOLO-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

Still missing? Write to us from the address you bought with. On a PC that’s using the key, the studio’s Account tab shows its last five characters, which helps us find it. An account page where you can see your keys yourself comes with Holo Cloud. Soon

Q.07How do I move it to a new PC?
  1. On the old PC, make a backup if you want your setup to come along: studio, History, backup. It’s one .holo file, locked with a password you choose.
  2. Still on the old PC: studio, Account, Remove the key from this PC. That frees its place on the key.
  3. On the new PC, install, paste the key in the studio’s Account tab, then restore the backup from History.

If the old PC is broken or gone, write to us with the email you bought with.

Setup

6 answers
Q.08What does my PC need?
  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Any PC works: setup picks a graphics level that suits it, from light to full 3D.
  • An internet connection for the licence check when it starts (an answer stays good for 7 days offline), for cloud AI if you use it, and for weather, music and other services.
  • A brain: the free local AI, or a key from an AI company (see below).
  • Best with an NVIDIA graphics card with 6 GB or more, where local AI and voice are fastest. Without one, an AI key is the better choice.
  • Optional: a microphone and speakers to talk to it, and a webcam so it notices when you come and go. Both stay off until you turn them on.

The installer, HoloIntelligenceSetup.exe, is about 120 MB. The setup guide walks through everything.

Q.09Is there a Mac, Linux or phone version?

Not yet. Holo Intelligence UI runs on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Phones and tablets can join as extra screens through their web browser, for approvals and notifications, but there’s no phone app to install.

Q.10Windows SmartScreen warned me about the installer.

That’s expected for now: the installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen doesn’t recognise it. Choose More info, then Run anyway. It installs just for you, with no administrator password.

To check your copy is the genuine one, compare its SHA-256 fingerprint with the one on the download page. In PowerShell, in the folder you saved it to:

PowerShellCheck the installer
Get-FileHash .\HoloIntelligenceSetup.exe -Algorithm SHA256
Q.11Do I need Ollama, or an API key?

One of them, or both. Setup’s Connect an AI step shows the two side by side.

  • Free, on your PC: press Install Ollama for me. It downloads Ollama (about 1.7 GB) from ollama.com, checks it’s genuinely signed by Ollama Inc., and installs it just for you. Then Download fetches the model that suits your graphics card (1.4 to 9 GB). Nothing you say leaves your PC.
  • Your own account: a key from Claude (Anthropic), OpenAI, Google Gemini or OpenRouter. Paste it and press Check and save: it’s tested with the company first, then kept encrypted on your PC and never shown again.
Graphics memoryFree model it picks
10 GB or moreQwen3 14B
6 GB or moreQwen3 8B
3.5 GB or moreQwen3 4B
Less than thatQwen3 1.7B

Change either later in the studio’s Models and Connectors tabs. The setup guide has step-by-step instructions for each company’s key.

Q.12What do API keys cost?

You pay the AI company directly, only for what you use, and we take nothing. A day of chatting usually costs cents with a small model, and up to a few dollars with the biggest.

  • Claude: pay-as-you-go credit, from $5.
  • OpenAI: billed per use. ChatGPT Plus doesn’t include it.
  • Google Gemini: a free tier with daily limits.
  • OpenRouter: pay as you go; some models are free, with lower limits.

A Claude Pro or Max plan is separate from API credit: to use your plan for building, connect Claude Code instead. Set a daily limit in the studio’s Models tab, and once it’s reached the free model on your PC answers until midnight.

Q.13How do I uninstall it?

Windows Settings, Apps, find Holo Intelligence UI, then Uninstall. You choose whether to keep your data, so a later reinstall can pick up where you left off.

Using it

Q.14How do I talk to it? What’s the wake word?

Say its name, then what you want: “Nova, what’s on my calendar?” The wake word is the first word of the name you gave it, and it follows when you rename it. To pick a different one: studio, Assistant.

The microphone stays off until you switch it on, in setup or the studio’s Security tab, and speech is turned into text on your PC. Rather press a key? Press V on any screen and turn on push-to-talk, then press Ctrl+Alt+Z and say your sentence. You can always type, too: press Enter on any screen.

Q.15Can I use more than one screen?

Yes, though one screen is the default. A phone, tablet or another computer on your Wi-Fi can become another screen: studio, Screens, turn on Let phones and tablets on my Wi-Fi join, then scan the code with its camera and open the link. If Windows asks about the firewall, choose Private networks. On a phone, add it to the home screen to use it like an app.

The same tab sets what each screen shows. Press E on a screen to arrange its panels by hand, or Shift+E on the 3D screen.

Q.16How do I change its look?

Press T for the studio, then Look: eight themes (Ember, Arctic, Amber, Violet, Emerald, Graphite, Daylight and High contrast), your own colours, a theme made from a picture, glow, motion, font, and five body styles: Core, Wave, Swarm, Lattice and Face. Or just ask it: “make it blue”.

Comfort settings live there too: high contrast, calm motion, a readable font, captions and text size. This website’s theme button has six of the themes, if you’d like a preview.

Q.17I changed something and don’t like it.

Press Ctrl+Shift+Z on any screen to take back the newest change; press it again to go further back. The studio’s History tab lists every change to the look, the assistant, the screens and plugins, newest first, with who made it: you, the builder or the assistant.

Q.19What does “Soon” mean next to Holo Link and the gallery?

Holo Link (linking with friends’ assistants), the community gallery and accounts need Holo Cloud, our online service, which isn’t live yet. They’re marked Soon until it is.

AI and agents

Q.20How do Claude Code approvals work?

Install Claude Code from claude.com/claude-code and sign in. Then, in the studio’s Connectors, press Connect on Claude Code. That adds a permission hook to Claude Code’s settings, keeping any hooks you already have and saving a backup first.

From then on, each permission request appears on every screen, phones included, ranked by risk, with Allow and Deny. If nobody answers within about 108 seconds, or the UI isn’t running, Claude Code simply asks in its own window as usual. Disconnect is in Connectors and in the Security tab.

Codex CLI and Hermes Agent sessions show on the Claude Code and Agents panels too, but their permission requests stay in their own windows. Press A on the 3D screen for the AI panels.

Q.21What is local-AI mode?

A switch in the studio’s Models tab. While it’s on, only models on your PC answer, build and see: nothing goes to cloud AI, and Claude Code and other cloud builders are refused. It still needs the internet for the licence check, and the weather and music still use it.

Q.22Which model answers, and can it build things?

You choose a model for each job (chat, code, vision and building) in the studio’s Models tab, each described in plain words. A model can also take the intelligence check, five small coding tasks: four or more passed means “can build plugins”, two or more means “can customize” (themes, layouts and settings), and fewer means “chat only”. So a weak model can never change the app’s code.

Privacy

Q.23What does it hear, see and keep?
  • Microphone, camera and clipboard history: off until you turn them on, in setup or the studio’s Security tab. Speech becomes text on your PC.
  • Your keys: encrypted by Windows and readable only on this PC.
  • “What’s on my screen?”: a screenshot only when you ask, seen only by the vision model you chose, and never stored.
  • Meeting notes: only when you start them. The transcript is kept encrypted, and audio is never kept.
  • The audit log: everything the assistant and its agents did, in plain words, in the Security tab.

The full detail is in the privacy policy.

Q.24What does the licence check send?

Your key, if you’ve entered one, a scrambled ID for the PC (a one-way hash, never Windows’ own ID), the PC’s name and the app’s version. Nothing else. Every answer is signed, so a fake server can’t unlock anything, and each one stays good for 7 days offline.

Q.25Does this website track me?

No. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Your browser remembers the theme you pick here, and that’s all. The contact form below doesn’t send anything either: it opens your own email app. More in the privacy policy.

Troubleshooting

Q.26Something isn’t working. Where do I start?

The Doctor. Press T on any screen for the studio, then Doctor. It checks each part in plain words, problems first: the assistant, your computers, AI models, Ollama, cloud keys, apps and services, the microphone, screens, safe mode, key encryption, disk space and plugins.

Most problems come with a button that fixes them, such as Start it or Install it for me; the rest point at the right studio tab.

Q.27It can’t hear me, or I can’t hear it.
  1. Check the microphone switch in the studio’s Security tab: it’s off until you turn it on. The first time, it downloads its speech model, so give it a moment.
  2. Start with the wake word (studio, Assistant), or turn on push-to-talk with V.
  3. The Doctor’s Microphone line says whether the listener is running and which microphone it found.
  4. No sound back? Press V and pick the speakers it should use.

With an NVIDIA card, the Doctor offers NVIDIA’s speech libraries (about 1 GB, once) so listening runs several times faster.

Q.28It doesn’t answer.

Open the studio’s Models tab and check three things:

  • Is a model connected? If not, install the free one or add a key.
  • Is local-AI mode on with no model on this PC?
  • Has the daily limit been reached? Then the free model on your PC answers until midnight.

The Doctor also spots a key that stopped working (Check the key), Ollama installed but not running (Start it), and an assistant that isn’t running. The first answer from a model on your PC is slower while it loads.

Q.29The 3D screen is slow.
  • Studio, Look: lower Motion and Glow, or turn on Calm motion.
  • On a laptop, plug it in: many laptops slow their graphics on battery.
  • On a laptop with built-in graphics, choose the Lite graphics level, which swaps the 3D screen for the light, flat one: studio, Run setup again, then the Your PC step.
Q.30Something broke after a change.
  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Z to take back the newest change.
  2. Still wrong, or a plugin misbehaving? Turn on safe mode in the studio’s History tab: plugins off and the default look on every screen, with your accessibility settings kept. It stays on through restarts until you leave it, and a banner on every screen offers Undo and Leave safe mode.

If a screen can’t start at all, it shows what broke and offers Undo the last change, Start in safe mode or Reload. A 3D screen tries the flat one first.

Q.31It says the licence couldn’t be checked.

It checks online at every start and once a day, and each answer stays good for 7 days. After a week without one, the screens ask you to connect. Get online, then choose Check again on that card or in the studio’s Account tab. Still stuck? Write to us.
